Voluntary statement
minea is operated by a private individual and offered free of charge. The German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG) covers e-commerce services provided with a view to concluding a consumer contract. In our assessment, minea does not fall under this. Accessibility still matters to us. We aim for it and publish this statement voluntarily.
Our goal and current status
Our benchmark is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at conformance level AA. minea currently meets these requirements partially. The known limitations are listed below.
What we already do
– a clear structure with headings, landmarks and a link that lets you skip directly to the content, – labelled form fields and buttons so that screen readers can read them out, – keyboard operation with visible focus; the order of your books can also be changed with the arrow keys, – text alternatives for charts, – a light and a dark colour theme that can follow your system setting, – less motion if you have set reduced animations in your system, – a layout that adapts to small screens and to zooming.
Known limitations
– No complete audit: so far we have tested minea with automated testing tools for individual views and with our own spot checks, but have not yet fully audited it against WCAG 2.1. Not all combinations of browser and assistive technology have been tested, in particular screen readers on smartphones. – Contrast in the dark theme: some buttons may not reach the required contrast ratio everywhere in the dark colour theme. If needed, use the light colour theme. – Charts: some charts, such as the breakdown by category, only give a summary in their text alternative. You can find the underlying entries in the lists in the app and in the CSV export. – Receipts: uploaded images and PDF files come from users. We cannot influence whether they are accessible, for example whether a PDF contains searchable text. – Time-limited links: for security reasons, links for confirming your e-mail address and resetting your password are only valid for a limited time. You can request a new link at any time. We are working to reduce these limitations.
How this statement was prepared
This statement is based on a self-assessment. It relies on automated checks of individual views and manual spot checks, including different screen sizes and the light and dark colour themes. Last updated: 22 September 2026. We review this statement whenever we make significant changes to minea.
